Quiet Man’s Voice

I’ll ask your attention
while the quiet man speaks.
Take a moment to know him
and learn of his deeds.
His voice isn’t wisdom.
It’s not honest nor proud.
It’s lied, it’s been cunning.
But not once did it shout.
It’s given away secrets.
Told of past sins.
It’s made a few enemies.
Yet it’s made many friends.
It’s called out for help.
And it’s given advice.
It’s said what is wrong
and it’s said what is right.
It’s rebelled and fought,
then agreed with the crowd.
Spelled out its ideals.
Yet never too loud.
No, don’t ever mock it.
It’s not stupid nor bright.
Just a quiet man’s voice
that no one’s heard shout.
