The Lantern

As I held up my lantern
o’er the world one night,
I saw a bleak picture
that hid from the light.
I cast out the shadows.
Debunked many myths
about this great haven,
the worlds constant bliss.
I looked on it vaguely
and cast many doubts
about this bleak picture,
the floods and the droughts.
And those who are starving,
those with no homes.
The lantern shone dimly
on all those alone.
And violence among them,
the wars in their lands.
Where many have fallen
to murderous hands.
I hold up my lantern.
it lights up the globe
and tells a sad story
thats part of us all.
